A California Private School
Independent Study Program
K - 12

BayShore School and Educational was created in 1992 to fill the need for a private independent study program (ISP) that would accept California homeschooling families of all faiths, races, ethnicities, lifestyles, and edu-political philosophies.

Through the years BayShore has developed the reputation as an indispensable resource for California homeschooling families by offering consultations, guidance, and resources. In 2002, BayShore director Lenore Colacíon Hayes authored a book on homeschooling children with special needs and other learning differences.

BayShore School’s philosophy is to empower each family so that they may develop the best approach by which to nurture their children’s education.

We do not require, nor do we provide, a specific curriculum. Rather, our role is to assist families in their quest to meet the individual needs of each child, while staying within the parameters set forth by the California Education Code.

BayShore School offers resources, guidance, and encouragement to its enrolled families. We do not offer a program for those who need detailed lesson plans or daily supervision. Enrollment with BayShore School requires self-motivation, the desire to release rigid notions about learning and children, and a sense of humour.

Information regarding how to complete these requirements is included in the application package.

Student/family must reside in southern California
(counties: LA, OC, San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside, Kern, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, Imperial & Santa Barbara).

BayShore School may consider enrolling new students from outside of this area (California residents only), depending on the situation, please complete contact information form, and tell a bit about your current schooling situation, and why you feel BayShore School would best suit your needs.

11th and 12 th grade students accepted only if transferring from another independent study program or by permission of the BayShore School director.

There is an additional charge of $30.00/student charge for those who need entertainment permits processed ($30.00/per student for each application completed). While BayShore School does accommodate children in the entertainment business, we are unable to sign the academic/health/attendance release at the same time as initial enrollment. That form requires the enrolling school to attest to satisfactory progress in these areas and we do not have that information available on new students. We are able to sign the entertainment permit form once the student has been enrolled with BayShore and we have either: a) received transcripts from the child's previous school; and/or b) the required attendance and academic reports have been submitted to BayShore at the regularly scheduled due dates. Submit the $30.00 with your initial enrollment application.

Read through all of this page and the BayShore School Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) web page;

Request the enrollment materials by completing the Enrollment Information Request form.  This is the first step in the registration process.

Please complete all answers fully - failure to do so could delay your children's enrollment.

If accepted, you will eventually be directed to complete forms that will require you to download, print, and mail.  Please make sure that you have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to open the PDF.

Reviews may take up to seven (7) working days from receipt.

If you wish to pay by credit card, you will receive an email invoice from Google Checkout;  you will then pay using their secure online check-out. Payments must be received (and not just invoiced) by early discount deadline dates in order to qualify for the lower tuition fee.
