Educational Consultations
College (and subsequently, life) success depends on one’s ability to communicate in a concise manner. Whether it be through the written or spoken word, many students have not been exposed to the tools necessary, to create and present a simple, yet informative presentation. One of the trends I’ve noticed through my years of working with students is that many are not learning the necessary tools of studying. Students are not learning how to schedule time with an eye toward delineating priorities; they are unable to develop outlines or maximize research techniques to present written assignments and oral presentations.
As An Educational Consultant, I Offer:
• Mentoring high school & college students in the development of study skills, such as scheduling time/assignments; setting priorities; developing research topics and outlines. • Providing guidance in writing assignments and oral presentations. • Editing guidelines. • Preparation for college and/or employment.
Additional K-12 Services Include: • Consultation services on traditional and alternative learning environments - determine what works best for your child; • Development of curricular materials for homeschoolers who are not enrolled with the BayShore School private ISP; • Guidance counseling for current and prospective homeschool families. Services do not include tutoring.

About Lenore Colacion Hayes, M.S.
In addition to my graduate training in psychology and education, I bring a wealth of experience from 20+ years of parenting, as well as from my previous career, and from my late maternal grandmother who was an indigenous healer. She learned this art from her paternal grandmother in Mexico. While I obviously do not incorporate many of my grandmother's folk healing methods into my consulting practices, I do seek to maintain a a balance between modern social science, recognized business practices, and if desired, ethnically-based spirituality.
I parented (and homeschooled) my Asperger Syndrome son (now a young adult). My experiences with Nigel have created an understanding of the difficulties negotiating through meltdowns, wars-of-wills, and sensory intolerances. My life has also benefited from the innumerable rewards of parenting this young individual as he has grown into an empathic, creative, and loving adult. Difficult journeys often bring unexpected and enriching side-trips. Prior to returning to college to pursue studies in psychology, I spent the first decade of my adult life working in the record industry. I served as manager/publicist/producer for local progressive rock bands in the late 1970s and 1980s; in addition, I also worked as a music publicist for an independent Solters & Roskin, a Los Angeles PR agency, and also for Epic Records. I worked with such artists as the late Luther Vandross, Ozzie Osbourne, David Johansen, Gary Myrick, Carl Verheyen, Mark Mancina, and Doug Smith. In 2002, I authored a book on special needs children for Prima Publishing (a Random House imprint). For the past few years I have taken a break from writing, but I have recently returned to the words and expect to share them in the very near future.
